anyway, take for example this conversation i overheard in a public toilet this morning:

mom: 'boy, what are u doing in there?'

boy: 'pang-sai-ing'

mom: 'need help?'

An AF Form 781 is aboard all Air Force aircraft to record any malfunctions so maintenance personnel can fix the problem before the next flight. Here are some of the problems (P) as posted by the aircrews and solutions (S) of the maintenance personnel to clear the write-up:

(P) Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
(S) Almost replaced left inside main tire.

(P) Test flight OK, but autoland very rough.
(S) Autoland not installed on this aircraft.

(P) #2 propeller seeping prop fluid.
(S) #2 propeller seepage normal, other three propeller lack normal seepage.

(P) Something loose in the cockpit.
(S) Something tightened in the cockpit.

(P) Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
(S) Evidence removed.

(P) Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) volume unbelieveably loud.
(S) Volume set to more believeable level.

(P) Autopilot in “altitude hold” mode produces 200 fpm decent.
(S) Could not duplicate on the ground.

(P) Dead bugs on windscreen
(S) Live bugs on order.

(P) IFF inoperative.
(S) IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

(P) Friction lock causes throttle levers to stick.
(S) That’s what its there for.

(P) #3 engine missing.
(S) #3 engine found on right wing after brief search.

(P) Aircraft handles funnny.
(S) Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

(P) Target radar hums.
(S) Reprogrammed target radar to sing.

I guess if someone like 2WO See was the Prime minister of Britain, he would probably rant ' I do my job, you do your job, not like some people only know how to open their big CxxxBxx mouth' What do you guys think? I guess the lesson learnt is that it ain't over till the fat lady sings.

What a Beautiful Day!

Woke up this morning around 7 to find it was drizzling and really breezy. Went back to sleep. Woke up again at nine to meet my friend for breakfast. Cycling in the warm sunshine, breathing in the crisp morning air chilled by the morning shower, feeling the breeze in my face... wow, i thought, doesn't get much better than this!

Had a good dream last night too, haha. Dreamt I met Zhang Ziyi at a party and chatted her up! haha should sleep more............

Back!

If you are doubtful about the quality of English in China, I can assure you that it is horrible. Apart from calling the dustbin the "Destination of the Litter", it is also called a "Rubbish Receptacle", which sounds a little too deep for my liking. Funny sentences galore, including "Please step the stairs", "No Entry once you go beyond 1.2m" and many many more. They really need to do something about this before Beijing 2008.



Overall it is an inspiring (albeit tiring) trip with magnificent scenery, great food, rich culture and friendly people. Healthy respite from sun-scorched, expensive SG.
Can't wait for my BKK trip next week. :)
