Cheap Thrill

Woohoo~~
This resort-styled hotel I'm at now has a personal housekeeper within each resort, and free Internet access and movie entertainment system. There's not much night life here, so here I am slacking and typing this. Its amazing that the sun just set, considering that its 8.30pm.
Well, 丽江 has been quite an exciting experience, learning about diverse cultures and a truly different way of living so unlike ostentatious sg. Will show pics next time when I return!
And to Daniel: sorry man, but I will be in bangkok then. can ask perhaps someone else to pass the message as its not convenient for me now... till then.

Cheers everyone!

Mr. Drella

Posted by Hello

Warhol is my idol of the month.
In one of his films -

"Approach the crucifix, lift his loincloth, and go about your business!"
-- Ondine

His 60's shows are the epitome of decadence and nihilism. I sooo want to watch his films, provided I can get a hold of them.

Office Politics

Imagine the politics we had back then: somebody doesn't like somebody else, non-answering of phones, shifting blames, mr excuses, mr chao geng...

And multiply it be a thousand times when females are added into the environment. Today at lunch, I listened to a few ladies gossip about the multitudes of back-stabbing, saboh-ing, boss dissing, job hopping plans, ineptness of some people and many other things. Sounded like your typical survivor episode.

Before I leave this company, I would have witnessed the leaving of 3 permanent colleagues and added another 3 more. Hmm.

Oww..

Oh great. My whole body is aching just after a short run and I clocked a horrible 11.30 for 2.4!
Looks like I need to put in more effort to keep in time and shape.

note the similarity

I was supposed to call these guys up to chase them for something.. but despite trying a few times.. later i told my colleague.. he said that once they saw that the number started with the prefix that says it's hq calling, they'll avoid the call.. best is use handphone to call.. thus note the similarity.

Ambigrams

apparently i had some pretty artistic genes hidden away... creating ambigrams turns out to be pretty fun have made 5 so far.... of the names liana, bernard, daniel, darren and alvin, in chronological order.... hope i can scan the 'daniel' soon... think it'll make a good msn pic haha

back in business

yay my comp has returned!

learnt two new expressions of speech:
  1. Happy-Pants: pants that are somewhat strained due to someone/thing in said pants being 'happy'.
  2. jiang3 hua4 diu1 spanner: literal translation is pretty weird but kinda means 'venomous words/speech'.

saw an ad for oxy in the train today, it featured a guy trying to squeeze a pimple with a bench clamp. the caption was ' when you have tried everything else'. so that means what, people would rather squeeze their pimples with a bench clamp than use oxy? if that isn't scoring an own goal then i'm a hairless monkey. haha

tong out

I finally understood the meaning of the word genius. A genius is a person, who knowing that his ord date is just 14days away, decides to play punk with someone, and gets charged by that someone to go DB for 21days. That genius is none other than my platoon's Ryan Wu and that someone is none other than Fabian Kor.

A&Q

answers
birdiee: 33 is about right. also depends on whether the stylist or the assistant is cutting. Neighbour hood salons are cheaper.. 10 bucks.

kre-: as i was telling lawrence, i'd do the organising if i haven't spent 500 dollars in 10 hours on tuesday. And it wasn't on shopping ok.

votrex: dunno if i should get the phone now or in the us? apparently some ppl there don't even use mobile.
lost- claire was in roswell and jack was in party of 5. the plot actually gets very interesting.. and the background stories of each of them are knock out.. especially when they show that the siblings are not normal siblings. of course the season ends with a cliff hanger and i hope the writers are able to tie it up next season instead of heading for the alias direction where it just gets too convoluted.

questions: what exactly is birdiee, kreene and votrex? is votrex some sort of pathway that leads to other dimensions and allows orbs to travel? is kreene a frog or a toadstool? is birdiee a feathered road kill?

question

how much does a hair cut at a salon usually cost? which salon is good? my last haircut at sri nada was a big fat flop, so today i decided to try reds hairdressing... spent 33 bucks sheesh....

*batman...batman...*

sing along if you remember the batman tune from the old tv show

I wonder if the Batman movie will have a scene like in Spiderman where the fiddler played the theme song.

Anyhow, due to Law's denial to organise something, I have decided to organise next week's movie outing. You all need to be more proactive man. Lol. So it shall be Batman the Beginning which opens on the 16th. Friday evening sounds good to you guys? And a beer session after at Paulanuers(?), of course. (I'm not free on Saturday!)

Interested parties please send your names to me(sms, msn, email, snail mail, blackmail) and contact the rest (Aru, the Starhub boys etc) who do not check back often. I will prebook tickets by Wednesday 2200 hours. I wont be sending any SMS invitations because it's too much of a hassle. So just spread the word.

Do I see you waving your hand frantically, Cw?

Hmph

Ok my phone for 2005 is out. Let's get it chee wei!

Lost doesn't look too bad at the start though I don't think its ending will live up to the exhilarating and engrossing pilot. Locke seemed so uncannily familiar - realised he appeared in another one of my fav series: ALIAS.

And why do I think that we are not watching Mr. and Mrs. Smith this weekend?

PS. Just a picture I found.

eh

who's birthday is coming up soon? can we go and celebrate it? i need my fix of birthday parties.

orientation?

anybody interested? those going nus? i'm in this camp, frm 17 to 22 of june, and they are looking for more ppl to join... drop me a msg if interested...

don't WHAT with my heart?

was listening to the radio the other day and came across this new song by the black eyed peas, 'don't phunk with my heart'. nice song except some joker decided to censor the word 'phunk'. i have a few issues about this...

  1. the band came up with the word, ergo it is not officially a word. like 'jiggy' in will smith's 'get jiggy wit it'. ridiculous censoring a word that has no official meaning. even in context it probably means 'mess' wat... sheesh
  2. ok so it sounds like funk. so? funk not a bad word what....
  3. so now the song goes something like "~~ no no no no, don't ph**k with my heart~~" which really really gives ppl the wrong idea cos now it sounds like the title is don't fuck with my heart. i mean an 8 yr old would probably figure that out la...
  4. after the song, jamie yeo says, "ok that was the black eyed peas for you, with their new track, 'don't phunk with my heart'." so the dj can say phunk but the the black eyed peas can't lah.... like that censor for what.....

damn damn damn damn stupid.....

on another note, "ai hen jian dan" is in c#major, instead of c major (pun intended).... gotta transpose liao... sian....

a series of unfortunate events

last week was shitty.

it all started on sunday night, 29 may, when my joystick went snap while i was play x-wing alliance. it was one week old. studying its now limp form, i thought to myself, "oh fuck".

fast foward to monday night: played somemore xwing, compensating the loss of the self-centring spring mechanism with some rubberbands turned out pretty well. just goes to show i belong in engineering. went to block 85 to have ba chor mee for supper. recieved an sms frm my sis that went something along the lines of: "kor, where are u? the comp can't start, dad can't do anything about it, he says its a super-hang." and so i thought to myself, "hahahahahaha, fuck." my colleague calls it a one-two sucker punch, i'd like to call it a double whammy.

fast foward to last sunday: went down to challenger superstore at tampines to extract some justice from the 'nice' people who sold me the joystick. prepared a whole argument for that. "yes i know, it costs only $22 but hey, this is ONE FREAKING WEEK MAN! MILK DOESN'T SPOIL THAT QUICKY! blah blah blah" something like that. well they heard my case, let me one-to-one exchange, so there, problem solved. got back to my car, and whaddya know! the carpark auntie strikes again! parking fine: $20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

talk about life slapping you in the face.... u f**kers are probably laughing ur heads off aren't u........... never mind, laugh some more... i suffer for your amusement

tong, out.

To add on to Zhan Rui's post, I am starting a beer culture. Basically i plan to try every pub in Boat Quay. I started with Aru last fri at Brewertz. Beer is good and burgers there can really fill ur tummy. Anyway Lawrence, when are we watching Mr and Mrs Smith?

TWO PRESSING GLOBAL CONCERNS

1. men who don't trim their nose hair.
there is nothing more unsightly then stray hair protruding from their nose. honestly, when i see that i don't feel like looking at him anymore. it's so therapeutic to stick a pair of scissors or nail clippers into your nose and trim the hedges, even if you don't have a pro nostril cutter.

2. men who wear white socks with black leather shoes.
i don't get it. isn't it just so wrong? they never matched and they never will. when i see that i just can't look at the feet anymore. why, oh why.

Another funny game
